New KV stands – Security industry receives 10.3 percent more wages

Date:

After tough negotiations, the collective labor agreement 2023 stands for the security industry. Wages will rise by an average of 10.3 percent on January 1, the Vida union announced on Wednesday. A gross minimum wage of EUR 2,000 only becomes available a year later.

“For us it was very important that we could achieve a lasting effective wage agreement for everyone above the underlying inflation and a stronger increase in the lower wage scales. A one-off payment would have been a lost cause for the employees,” says Gernot Knopp, head of negotiations for the vida union. In addition to the salary, benefits will also be increased by 6.9 percent.

Surcharge for Christmas and New Year
In addition, a higher allowance has been decided for employees who work on 24 and 31 December. After 12:00 a surcharge of 100 percent applies instead of the previous 50 percent. The employees still have to be patient with a minimum wage of 2000 euros gross. This is not planned for 2024. For employees who have to follow additional training for their work, such as airport security guards, steps have been taken towards a gross minimum wage of 3,000 euros.

15,000 employees
According to the union, negotiations have been particularly difficult this year and were on the verge of being broken off. However, both sides relented and engaged in an unscheduled round of special negotiations. About 15,000 people work in the security industry.

Collective labor agreements are currently being negotiated in various sectors. The railway employees went on strike on Monday and an agreement was reached on the collective agreements on Tuesday evening.
