Inflation accelerated in April: According to Statistics Austria, inflation is expected to reach 9.8 percent in April, compared to 9.2 percent in March.
Month-on-month, consumer prices rose by 0.8 percent. “Inflation is accelerating in leisure, travel and services,” said Tobias Thomas, Austria’s director general of statistics.
On the other hand, prices for heating oil and heating oil are lower again than a year ago, Thomas explained on Tuesday. The Harmonized Index of Consumer Prices (HICP) rose by 9.6 percent in April compared to the same month last year. According to a preliminary flash estimate, the HICP rose by 1.0 percent compared to March.
