While 1,900 employees of the insolvent kika/Leiner furniture chain across Austria do not know what will happen to them, the apprentices in the Upper Austrian branches now have certainty: they will be hired by the previous competitor.
All Leiner and one of the three kika locations in Upper Austria will be closed soon, about 260 employees will lose their jobs here. Although 50 companies have already expressed interest in the vacant employees at the AMS, their future is still uncertain. However, all students who are currently completing their education at the bankrupt company and who are affected by the closures have clarity. You receive a takeover offer from Wels-based XXXLutz Group. This was announced by the chairman of the Workers’ Chamber, Andreas Stangl, on Friday.
“Gone Fast”
“I am happy that it happened so quickly and that the management team of XXXLutz immediately listened to the matter with Thomas Saliger. I am very grateful for that,” says Stangl. This allows the young people involved to complete their training in their profession .
Saliger justifies the move as follows: “We in the furniture industry have a shared responsibility, especially for students, which we as XXXLutz Group are happy to take on.”
