Hoss Mobility – Chip crisis delays wheelchair production

Date:

Appointments for test drives are possible, but when it comes to delivery dates, nerves are put to the test: the global chip crisis is also slowing down Hoss Mobility. “In the first half of the year we can’t deliver anything,” says Lukas Rigler, who runs the company in Waldhausen (Upper Austria) together with Dominik Lorenz.

In the TV show “2 minutes, 2 million” on Puls 4, the founders of Hoss Mobility, Lukas Rigler and Dominik Lorenz, caused a stir among investors and garnered a lot of praise – as well as a commitment for an investment of one million euros. Outside of the TV cameras, the deal ultimately failed to materialize. “Others who want to invest with us contact us,” says Rigler, “the confidence in us is there, we are no longer seen as a hobbyist booth, but as a company.”

Hoss Mobility, based in Waldhausen, not only impresses as a high-tech aid for people who depend on a wheelchair, but also scores in terms of flexibility. Because the electric wheelchair, which balances on one axle, can reach speeds of up to 15 km/h and is also easy to drive on unpaved paths such as gravel, sand or gravel.

200 pieces pre-ordered
Bitter: The global chip crisis is hampering the growth of Hoss Mobility. “We can’t deliver anything in the first half of the year,” reveals Rigler. The e-wheelchairs are now being built so that the electronics can be installed and the special vehicles can be delivered quickly. This year, 200 units have already been pre-ordered. Interest is high – especially in Germany, the main market for the people of Mühlviertel. “We have a lot of questions,” Lorenz says.
