Online retailer Amazon also wants to sell cars via its platform in the future. The American group announced its first partnership with South Korean manufacturer Hyundai to sell vehicles in the US at an auto show in Los Angeles on Thursday.
The partnership also stipulates that Amazon’s virtual assistant Alexa will be available in Hyundai cars from 2025.
In the future, customers will be able to select their model and other options online. After ordering, they can pick up the car at their local dealer or have it delivered to their home. Financing options are also offered on Amazon.
Previously, car buyers could see deals on Amazon but not make the purchase on the website. Share prices of US companies that sell used cars online fell after the announcement.
