The Austrian retail chain Spar is under new management. As announced on Tuesday, the Supervisory Board has appointed KR Hans K. Reisch (61) as the new CEO of Spar AG with immediate effect. The Kufsteiner and grandson of Spar founder Hans F. Reisch has been a member of the board of Spar Austria since 2001. As a former deputy CEO, he succeeds Mag. Fritz Poppmeier, who is withdrawing from this position for health reasons.
The board will be reduced from five to four people: this is allowed. Markus Kaser, mag. Paul Klotz and mag. Marcus Wild continues to work on the board of directors. The grandfather of the current Spar boss founded the store chain in 1954 together with 100 grocers from Tyrol and Salzburg. This gave rise to the Spar Group in 1970.
