The official residences of the president of the government, as well as those of Andalusia, the Canary Islands, Castilla y León, Catalonia, Extremadura, Galicia and the Basque Country, would save between 2,100 and 3,900 euros per year, according to Otovo.
The official buildings where the president of the government and the regional officials of different communities live can save up to x.xxx euros per xxxxx if they install photovoltaic panels. Specifically, the Palacio de La Moncloa could achieve an annual photovoltaic production of up to 10,629 kW/h per year if a self-consumption system and a battery were installed on the roof. This would mean a saving of up to 2,800 euros per year for the public treasury, if we consider electricity prices so far this year in Spain, despite the fact that the presidential residence today has a negotiated rate outside the wholesale market. Taking into account the 30-year life of the installation, the President of the Government of Spain and his family can save between 70,000 and 84,000 euros on their electricity bill.
To obtain this data, Otovo (the Norwegian company specializing in residential self-consumption) analyzed the potential of the roof of the building where the president of the government lives with his family. Taking into account the usual average consumption of a property in our country, as well as the dimensions, the needs of the building and the electricity prices, it is estimated that this property could have a bill of almost 292 euros per month, to which should be added Fixed costs , which can make up about 30-50% of that. Based on this assumption, with a self-consumption of solar energy of 60-75%, a monthly saving of almost 250 euros per month could be achieved.
Otovo’s study includes the same calculations for other residential buildings in the autonomous communities where their presidents officially live:
In Andalusia, the Palacio de San Telmo could produce up to 11,528 kW/h per year with a self-consumption photovoltaic system on the roof. This would mean a saving of up to 3,030 euros per year for the state treasury.
In the Canary Islands, the presidential residence could produce up to 10,754 kWh per year. This would mean a saving of up to 2,820 euros per year.
In Catalonia, the Casa dels Canonges, the official residence of the President of the Generalitat, could produce up to 10,580 kWh per year with an estimated saving of 2,800 euros per year.
In Castilla y León, the official residence of the chairman of the board of directors could produce up to 8,551 kW/h per year with a saving of 2,250 euros per year.
In Extremadura, the official residence of the chairman of the board of directors could produce up to 14,972 kW/h with a saving of 3,900 euros per year.
In Galicia, the Palacio de Monte Pío could produce up to 8,441 kW/h per year with a saving of 2,220 euros per year.
In the Basque Country, Ajuria Enea could produce up to 8,207 kW/h with annual savings of 2,160 euros.
