Tech billionaire Elon Musk wants his order to testify in court as part of the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) investigation into his $44 billion takeover of online service Twitter .
Musk appears to be challenging U.S. District Judge Laurel Beeler’s decision to testify again as part of the investigation into his acquisition of Twitter, now X, according to a court document filed Thursday.
Last Saturday she gave the Tesla boss and the authorities a week to agree on a date. The SEC had already announced in October 2023 that it was investigating Musk’s stock purchases via Twitter in 2022, as well as his statements and SEC filings related to the $44 billion acquisition.
The SEC is investigating whether Musk followed the law in filing required documentation regarding his purchases of Twitter stock and whether his statements regarding the deal were misleading. The billionaire is opposing the investigation and has so far refused to make a statement. He accuses the authorities of intimidation.
