Until now, Nutella spread has not been suitable for all diets. This will change soon. After 60 years of loyalty to the original recipe, Ferrero now dares to renew it.
Nutella regularly fails in product tests due to its high sugar and fat content. But fans swear by the nut nougat cream.
Nutella Plantbased will be launched on the market in the autumn, the food newspaper reports in response to a Linkedin post from the head of the Italian marketing cooperative VéGé Group.
Sales start in Italy
Sales should start in Italy. However, Ferrero has already secured the brand in other countries. It is still unclear when the vegan Nutella will appear in Austria.
Nutella with the “innovation of innovations”
Giorgio Santambrogio, CEO of VéGé, writes: “We love collaborating with the innovations of our friends in the industry, and here we are with the innovation of innovations: Nutella is changing, evolving and here is the introduction of Nutella Plant Based.”
Milk powder is replaced
Ferrero would replace the milk powder in the vegan version with a vegetable ingredient that has not yet been further explained. Otherwise, the cream should remain the same and provide a similar consistency and taste as the classic. Palm oil must also stay indoors. Meanwhile, fans of the original don’t have to go without, the milk version will still be available.
