The domestic food business generates less than five percent of its sales online, but the segment is likely to continue to grow. According to forecasts from Statista, turnover is expected to increase from currently around half a billion euros to 900 million euros in 2027. The business is now so lucrative that providers such as Gurkerl and Alfies are focusing exclusively on doorstep delivery.
