Training center – With 8.1 million euros against youth unemployment

Date:

From metal technicians and bicycle mechatronics technicians to retailers and restaurant specialists, there is a wide variety of apprenticeships that can be learned at the training center (AZV). The young men and women are allowed to stay there until they have found an internship at a company.

From January to August of this year, an average of 1,363 young men and women under the age of 25 were registered with the AMS. This represents an increase of 18.7 percent compared to the previous year. At the same time, 996 young people made use of the training and education offered by the AMS – here too, there was an increase (+11 percent).

Financing for vocational training
In order to give young people better opportunities on the labour market and to combat youth unemployment, those responsible for AMS are making 8.1 million euros available in funding for vocational training. “We have set ourselves the goal of promoting the training of skilled workers and supporting young people with a variety of offers on their way to the final examination for apprenticeship,” explains AMS regional manager Bernhard Bereuter.

Apprentices who, despite all their efforts, cannot find a permanent job in a company can start an internship at the Vorarlberg Training Center (AZV). The AMS Vorarlberg is investing around 3.4 million euros for the 2024/25 training year, while another 1.1 million euros comes from the state.

Teaching in the training center
130 places are made available for young people. There are currently 13 work-study places available. The training includes a practice-oriented qualification, a school education at the responsible state vocational school and the learning of social skills. The training in the AZV lasts until the young people have found a work-study place.
