In the dispute over the supply stop with the NÖM dairy over higher prices, the grocer is now responding with an open letter to the farmers.
As reported, the NÖM dairy factory has no longer supplied products to Spar branches since the beginning of last week. The reason for this is that the store chain did not accept a requested increase in purchasing prices by a reported double-digit percentage.
Spar defends itself with an open letter
Lower Austrian dairy farmers, who own 35 percent of NÖM (the rest from Raiffeisen Holding NÖ-Wien), point to huge cost increases, the NÖ. Boerenbond is considering legal action against Spar. The Salzburg grocer is now defending himself in a letter to the farmers.
We are committed to the 22,000 local dairy farmers and have hundreds of their products in stock, including from local small-scale producers. In some cases, dairy products that were previously produced abroad are now produced in Austria. An example is the range of lactose-free dairy products, says Spar spokeswoman Nicole Berkmann. Together with a domestic dairy factory, a new drinking meal has recently been developed to create a market for skimmed milk, Spar argues.
However, the requested general price increases are incomprehensible. In justified cases, such as with butter, there have already been two upward adjustments, Berkmann emphasizes.
