Salary negotiations for civil servants started on Monday. The Public Service Union (GÖD) is demanding a sustainable increase in salaries and allowances and is even planning a strike. Krone+ looked at what the civil service in Austria looks like and whether complaining is actually appropriate.

Job stability, training opportunities, full benefits during illness – life as a civil servant in the Republic of Austria has its advantages. You can also ignore the fact that prestige – especially in administrative jobs – is not always the greatest. Civil servants are quickly criticized for their work speed.
