Not happy with the gift? Anyone who thinks they are generally entitled to an exchange is wrong, as Maria Wollersberger-Linder, consumer protection expert at the Styrian Chamber of Labor, knows.
There is no legal right to exchange. An exchange is only possible if the company does so explicitly, for example B. stated on the invoice. It is important that conditions can also be attached to an exchange, such as the integrity of the product, a deadline or the presentation of the receipt.
Exchanges do not mean that returning the goods means you will get your money back. It is best to inquire about the trade-in options before purchasing and have them confirmed in writing.
14 days right of withdrawal for online purchases
The situation is different for online purchases, where there is a right of withdrawal of 14 days from receipt of the goods or from the conclusion of the contract. Excluded from this are, for example: Sealed goods or concert tickets. If you are not properly informed about the withdrawal period, it will be extended by twelve months.
The declaration of revocation must be sent to the company within the specified period. Shipping on the last day of the deadline is considered on time. The goods must then be returned to the company. Consumers must prove that the company has received the cancellation notice and the goods. Evidence must therefore be kept.
