Check of 200 euros from the government: requirements, how to apply for it and who can apply for this new aid

Date:

It is one of the measures within the anti-crisis plan to mitigate the economic and social consequences of the war in Ukraine

As of 1 July, a new financial support of 200 euros can be requested. It is a check that the Council of Ministers approved on June 25 within the package of measures to mitigate the economic impact of Ukraine’s invasion of Spain. It is a shock plan against the impact, not only economic, but also social, that the war is causing.

The aim of this support is to reduce the adverse effect on prices caused by the energy crisis caused by the war in Ukraine, which has led to situations of economic vulnerability that are not covered by other social benefits. Here are the requirements, who can apply for it and how it can be applied for.

This support represents a provision of 200 euros in one go for vulnerable households. There are several requirements to access this new tool.

– Income requirement: Households with a total income of less than 14,000 euros in 2021 can submit an application, in which all members of the cohabitation are added up.

-Equity capital: Applicants must have assets not exceeding EUR 43,196.4, discounting the current home.

Another requirement is that you reside legally and effectively in Spain for one year. In addition, it is considered that the persons who lived with the applicant on 1 January 2022 in a family or foster family up to and including the third degree belong to that family from two years earlier.

From the Central Central for Trade Unions and Civil Servants (CSIF), they warn that the wording of the decree-law raises a series of doubts because of the multitude of different family situations that exist: «What happens if the relationship is not even two years old, but they lived together on January 1? Will there be problems if other people with no family connection appear in the registry, as happened with the management of the IMV?”

The regulations provide that employees, self-employed and unemployed persons registered in the employment offices can benefit from this check for 200 euros.

Those who already receive the minimum vital income or receive pensions from the general scheme and the special social security schemes or from the state scheme for passive classes are excluded from this aid.

This support can be applied for from 1 July to 30 September. The body responsible for managing this, which requires a prior request from the beneficiaries, is the State Tax Administration.

According to a complaint from Csif, “the decree-law does not specifically establish personal channels or help systems in the online process to facilitate its presentation to people who do not have access to technology or who find it difficult”

The government of Spain estimates that 2.7 million households will benefit from this aid and that it will cost about 540 million euros in total.

Other measures for low-income people within this extraordinary package due to the invasion of Ukraine are that the increase in the minimum vital income will be extended by 15% and the increase in non-contributory pensions by 15%. In addition to the reduction of VAT on electricity to 5%, the lowest in Europe.
