Last weekend, including the infringement on the cold, again brought new snow to many ski resorts: the leading sporting goods dealer in Austria was already signed in the winter season, which was “extremely strong”, as director Franz Koll knows. His gaze is aimed at spring and summer, in which e-bikes remain a big subject in addition to running.
The Corona Pandemie and the Extreme Tree because of the urge to move in nature in combination with tense supply chains and an extremely optimistic production situation have led to the e-bike shares shares far too high for months-long manufacturers, at the wholesale and with dealers.
“The storage pressure is still being given,” confirms Franz Koll, director of Intersport Austria. That is why the leading sporting goods dealer in Austria, based in Wels, continues to concentrate on promotions intended to feed the sale of the stored models. Do you feel that customers are also waiting here because they hope that prices can fall again? “I would no longer recommend you to wait,” says Koll, “the excess shares are being demolished, and even if the shares are still a bit too high, they fall considerably”.
Prices from 2026 and then back to normal level
The production of e-bike was seriously closed. “Everyone got on the brakes – sometimes brutal,” says the company’s head, under whose roof 280 stores are only operated in Austria. For this year he expects e-bikes with a continuation of actions: “2026 and then the prices will go back to a normal level.”
More frequency, more rental company, more sales
The balance was very positive for the first half of the financial year 2024/25 at the end of March. Turnover in Intersport Austria increased to 405 million euros, which means an increase of 4.7 percent compared to 2023/24. The reason here is only part of the price increases, especially a higher frequency in the stores. One of the growth engines is the rental area. “Pension locations have booked partially booked record sales,” says Koll. You also benefit from the growing number of guests in the tourist regions.
