René Benko’s attempts to escape in the correction facility of Vienna Josefstadt have been failed so far. The “Kroon” has the last decision of the court – and the explosive details.
Since January 24, the most famous bankruptcy of Austria has been in lonely imprisonment in the 8th Municipal District. Refuses prison work. Studies the criminal law. Discusses with his lawyers. Benko only says: “There is also a convincing general situation in this regard, but I would like to read the new statement or the new report in this regard.”
Ultimately, the Benko Wess lawyer renews the request for ordering an electronically monitored house arrest. Benko concludes:
“I would commit myself and pay my family for the costs of video supervision. I would not risk the approach to call a board or accused. And: he would also commit to seeing his family and lawyer alone.
Judge: “Unsiminated criminal case”
The judge remains heavy: it announces the continuation of the detention because of the risk of law. In the written justification, she goes hard to the court with the Signa founder: the continuation of the detention before the trial is “undoubtedly not out of the relationship”. This is in particular the case with regard to the fact that “it is” an unprecedented criminal case in Austria, the total damage of which has not yet been closed. “
Moreover, it can be read: “The suspect has had his actual control and outright over legal entities with high criminal energy for many years, has used more complicated and opaque social structures for many years, and is ultimately used and is ultimately (indirectly) considered a profite of the designs that exist on appearance.”
René Benko denies the allegations, the suspicion of innocence applies to him.
Soko wanted to arrest in May 2024
Incidentally, the investigation in the Benko Causa was already far advanced in the spring of 2024. The researchers had investigated the so-called “Money Carousel”-by “krone” and “news” on the moment, including all Benko trustees involved. This comes from an event report from the Soko Signa of 24 May 2024 to the Economic and Corruption Officer of Justice. In the 44 -page document, the WKSTA is asked to arrange searches and arrests.
