The petrochemical facility failed around 10 a.m., the OMV said. As an immediate measure, “according to all safety measures”, Hoogflorchy operations were started. According to the information, the responsible authorities were informed. Work is being done to remedy the operational disorder.
“Working on the restart of the petrochemical system is currently in full swing,” the group announced on Tuesday evening. The production of the petrochemia system is essentially influenced by the production of petrochemical basic substances ethylene and propylene.
Fuel production is not affected
According to OMV, the production of all fuel of the Schwechat refinerie is not influenced. The fuel delivery of the refinery is still fully guaranteed.
All safety measures from OMV, such as the torch processing that is visible from distant, were carried out in accordance with the applicable security guidelines and provisions.
According to the group, this also includes the communication of the responsible authorities such as the Bruck District Park, De Bruck District Administration in the Leitha and the municipality of Schwechat.
