The approximately 9,600 employees at McDonald’s in Austria will receive more money in the future. The employees of the fast food chain have their own collective similarities now is an agreement.
McDonald’s is one of the largest employers in Austria. In the negotiations of the collective agreement for the nearly 10,000 employees, employees and employers’ representatives now corresponded to a wage increase of 3.9 percent, as the VIDA trade union announced.
The average income of the internship increases by 4.1 percent. In addition, further improvements in the framework conditions have been negotiated, according to the Union.
Extra day off
In the future, the 6th working day per week can be “calculated” in a period of 26 weeks. This means that employees can only have a 6-day week in a maximum of 13 weeks within 26 weeks, the trade union explains. Moreover, in the future, employees will have an extra leisure day and a nightly surcharge of 30 percent of the hourly wage.
Extra vacation from 15 years of service
The employees will receive a holiday week from the age of 15 years, the days are credited: from the age of six, there are an extra vacation day, after nine years of service, two vacation days, of twelve years of service three vacation days and after 15 years of service of five days.
According to Vida, McDonald’s has had an independent collective agreement (KV) since May 2024. Before that there was an extra kV for employees who had been demonstrated at the KV of the hotel and catering industry, whereby employees of other fast food chains are also used in Austria.
