From beer boxes to yogurt glasses to milk bottles – the trend to reusable packaging has long been common in the food industry. Now the garden world must also become greener – with reusable plant containers. A plastic processor from Upper Austria plays an important role.
Smart Plastics Applications is the name of the area in which the Polytec Group bundles its sustainable departments of the car industry. Topics such as reusable containers, energy storage and charging infrastructure are processed here. “In the long term we strive for a sales share of 30 percent in this segment,” said Peter Bernscher, deputy chairman of the board of directors, in the current annual report on the non-automotive activities of the plastic processor.
Returned packaging solutions that the company that is active from Hörsching has had on the screen for several years and also enjoys confidence here. In the previous year, an average of more than one logistics box per second ended the assembly line at Ebensee.
Lifetime of at least ten years
This year the company is run by Markus Huemer a different project in the practice and everything is about reusable planters! The reusable packaging is produced in Ebensee CO₂ neutral and are designed for more than 100 usage cycles and a lifespan of at least ten years. Then they can be recycled. The raw material obtained from this can be re -used for the production of plant containers.
