Meta, Apple etc. – EU wants to raise new taxes from large companies

Date:

The EU committee is planning a new tax for strong sales to open income sources. The levy must apply to all large companies that work in the EU and identify the net turnover of more than 50 million euros – this would also include digital groups such as Meta or Apple.

A spread system is intended to ensure that companies with the highest sales make larger contributions, reported the “Financial Times”, referring to the concept. This applies regardless of the headquarters of the companies.

Out of pure digital load
The EU committee did not want to comment on this for the time being. She only explained that the proposal could still change.

According to the report, the Brussels Authority falls earlier plans for a pure digital tax, which in particular had made American technology groups such as Apple and Meta. However, these would also be recorded by the new, broader entry.
