Cartagena’s David Galindo: “I’m happy”

Date:

The writer stood at the gates of two donations of 200,000 and one million euros respectively

“I’m happy, my novel came third out of 846 presented to the planet, and that means the jury really liked it,” said David Galindo (Cartagena, 1973), an English teacher and “with no published work Until now”.

Galindo, who went to Barcelona with his partner, Carolina Galvañ, to attend the awards dinner — a thousand guests, this year joined by María del Monte (she didn’t sing!) — shared a table with other finalists, including those the winners were not. Travel and hotel expenses were borne by them.

Galindo experienced an intense evening, “between emotion and nerves”, as his novel, ‘El harpista’, with Cabo de Palos, La Manga and the Mar Menor as the setting, managed with a good score to reach the fourth vote, in which it was eliminated and only the two winners advanced to the final.

The Cartagena stood at the gates of two donations of 200,000 and one million euros respectively. The dinner was also attended by bestselling authors María Dueñas and Agustín Martínez from Lorca and Rosa Belmonte from Murcia.
