The band presents today in the Revólver room the first single of a musical and scientific project about ASD
In 2013, Agustín Ernesto Martínez González in a bar drinking a few beers with friends decides that his stage name becomes AMAGO. It was clear to him that he wanted to capture the lyrics he had written in prose since his adolescence, and that he will continue to write, but he did not know what awaited him in the music world. “To this day we remain a feint,” says the singer, who will be performing at the Sala Revolver in Murcia at 10 p.m. today, laughing.
They will perform live ‘Pluscuperfecto’, the first single from a four-song EP entitled ‘Anatomy of the Garbage Man’, which is now available on digital platforms such as Spotify and on their YouTube channel. “The music video is a way of seeing things as a person with autism. We try to reflect the mindset of that person who has the idea that the world is perfect and how he perceives the sounds and colors around him,” said Martínez González, professor in the Department of Evolutionary and Didactic Psychology and director of the Comprehensive Research Group in Typical and Atypical Neurodevelopment (GINTA) at the University of Alicante.
The beginning of AMAGO was individual. Martínez composed, played guitar and sang. But over the years he added other artists and created a band in which he is currently accompanied by the Italian Stefano Franzosi (bass, keyboards and voices) and the Peruvian Carlos Alberto Vilcherrez (drums). “I always say that we are an international group,” confirms the drummer.
The group is not categorized into a specific music style, but fluctuates between indie pop, experimental indie, shades of rock, blues, punky and folk winks. “We want to present something different,” emphasizes Vilcherrez enthusiastically.
This Saturday, in Sala Revolver, at 10 PM, the tour of this band will start with a very special project. The teacher and musician has been researching ASD (autism spectrum disorders) for many years and has developed this cross-cutting initiative, which unites science and music, with the aim of raising awareness in society while understanding the perspective of people who have this condition. The generic project ‘On the way to the forest’ is an ultrasound story of a person within the autistic spectrum, told in the form of a book-disc and a documentary. It has three EPs: ‘Anatomy of the Garbage Man’, which will be released on all digital platforms on October 28; ‘Dimensions’ and ‘Animated Forest Dialogues’. The album book will be available for purchase from February 2023 on Amazon or on the AMAGO Music website.
The group’s next performance will be in Albacete on November 19. They will then play in La Nucia on December 4, March 11 in Alicante, April 14 in Cáceres, April 15 in Badajoz and June 3 in Malaga.
