Activists throw “blood and oil” into a display case of Barcelona’s Egyptian Museum

Date:

The museum has reported that no piece was damaged

Two activists stained the display case of a replica pharaonic mummy with a liquid that simulates petroleum and sprayed fake blood on the wall of a room in Barcelona’s Egyptian Museum as a sign of protest against the climate emergency, then held onto a shop window . The action did not cause any damage or damage to any piece, according to museum sources.

According to a statement from Extinction Rebellion, they are two militants from the Futuro Vegetal collective and, after adhering to the showcase, displayed a banner criticizing Coca-Cola’s sponsorship of Egypt’s COP27 climate summit and warning of the increase in global temperature.

When the Mossos d’Esquadra arrived, the activists retreated and were not arrested, as the liquid they used was marmalade, Catalan police sources told Europa Press.

In a tweet collected by Europa Press, Futuro Vegetal criticized that “governments wash their image in POPs to mislead the population without taking any real measures”.
