Lyric Theater brings the magic of Christmas into your home this festive season

Date:

Alan Mackie, Christina Nelson and Conor Grimes at Christmas…what an ass felt

With the current changing restrictions closing their doors to viewers, Lyric Theater urges everyone to re-create the magic of Christmas at home.

You can watch or listen to different programs from the comfort of the sofa with the whole family.

Join favorite holiday and comedy duo Conor Grimes and Alan Mackey on the Christmas special Listen in Lyric, an audio recording of Christmas… What a Widow Hears from January to January 3.

This is an audio adaptation of their popular 2016 show, Christmas… What a Donkey Saw. This seasonal comedy seeks answers to some big questions, like why didn’t Joseph book a room in advance – didn’t he know the birthday place was going to be full?

Conor Grimes said that although it happened in Judea 2,000 years ago, they have reinvented it.

He told Belfast Live: “We got locals on our show. We thought Joseph, he was a carpenter…so we decided he’d work at Wee Davy’s House Of Wardrobes.

“It was the same time in Ireland in 2000, in Judea, they had the same thing.

Mariam works at the local center.

The audio is our third text and we have updated it.

“The idea is that you sit with your family, open a bottle of mugs and listen to the show as if you were in the theatre.”

Alan Mackey added, “This is the best comedy version ever said and it’s available now.

“Our show is aimed at a family audience of teenagers. We have heard that sometimes they are neglected at Christmas because it is all normal for children.”

Starring Conor Grimes and Alan Mackey, starring Terrence Kelly, Tara Lynn O’Neill and Carrie Quinn, directed by Frank McCaffert and music by Rod McKay.

You can also go to the magical worlds with Christmas Family Shows Back in the Day with Peter Pan: Musical, Alice: Musical, Little Red Riding Hood, and Bad Wolf until January 3.

Jamie Fay, Lyric Theater Belfast Executive Producer, said: “It has been a very difficult year for Lyric Theater, as well as for all of our colleagues in UK and Irish theaters.

“Although our doors have been closed since March, we have decided to create work that features new and emerging artists, supports many of our freelancers and keeps the spirit of the words alive.

“Usually, at the end of November, the theater is filled with schoolchildren to watch the annual Christmas parade. For many, this is often their first visit to a live theater.

“While we may not be together in our fabulous theater this Christmas, we hope that our traditional festive program, with fun tricks and beautiful performances by Mackie and Peter Pan, Alice and Little Red Riding Hood, will help you recreate the opera experience.” the House.

“On behalf of the Lyric Theater team, I want to thank everyone who has been with us at this very difficult time.”

Noreen McKinney, Director of Artistic Development at Arts Council Northern Ireland added: ‘Although the doors of this beloved theater are temporarily closed, the magic of Lyrics continues with Christmas performances of not one but four for you to enjoy the safety and comfort of our homes during this festive period.
