Musical evenings in Abanilla within the Escalera Festival

The second edition of the Escalera de Abanilla Festival proposes four musical evenings in the nights of July. The Plaza del Ayuntamiento is the chosen place for the free concerts, which will be held on July 1, 2, 8 and 9 at 9:00 PM.

The festival kicks off this Friday with the appearance of several musicians – strings and harpsichord – from the Murcia Region Symphony Orchestra (OSRM), who will perform ‘The Four Seasons’ by Vivaldi. On Saturday 2 July it will be Simant Duo’s turn. The formation consisting of trumpeter Rubén Simeó and pianist Antonio Morant tries to break the boundaries between different music genres, from classical to pop and cinematographic.

The saxophonist quartet Purple Pansa will play some curious versions of arias by different Zarzuelas on 8 July. Finally, the Flamenco Jazz performance is offered on 9 July. In addition, visitors to this concert can enjoy a wine and ham tasting.

Celia Torá, director of the festival, emphasizes the importance of this initiative, “because classical music, chamber music and other genres such as jazz and flamenco can be brought closer to a small town like Abanilla.”

The previous edition of the event – with four concerts in the four weekends of July – “worked very well,” says the organizer, who is also an orchestra leader, because “many elderly people in this city had never visited a room concert, for example, and he thanked me warmly for the initiative».

On this occasion, the proposal is concentrated “for agenda reasons”, but it is expected that the success of these varied music evenings will be repeated in the municipality “in a very calm and pleasant environment”.
