Passengers of the Stena Line ferry bound for Belfast on Friday night had to spend the night on an injured boat after experiencing engine problems.
People boarded the boat at 10:30 a.m. from Liverpool, which was sailing on Friday, around 9:30 p.m., but were later told they were delayed due to weather issues, according to a passenger.
However, passengers were later informed of engine problems and a delayed departure.
But it was around 8 a.m. (Saturday) until the people on the boat got off, according to one of them. Then the passengers were offered to travel north to Kairnian and a ferry to Larney.
Most people stayed in Liverpool, but they tried to see if the Stena line could help them get to Belfast.
Stena Lane said he could “confirm that Stena Ida unfortunately has a technical problem, and we’ll talk about it.”
They added: “All passengers will be placed on the next flight or on alternative routes.”
They added on Twitter: “Our call center is currently experiencing a high number of calls and waiting times.”
A passenger on a Liverpool flight in Belfast said he was offered a refund and had to book a flight to Belfast instead.
