Makers of the Region from 18 to 35 years old can present themselves online until Monday or at the counter of every town hall
The mailbox to register for the third edition of the EstrenArte youth creation festival is still open, albeit not for long. The deadline for artists aged 18 to 35 in the Region to apply ends next Monday the 13th. “What I would like to ask them is not to wait until the last day, because then there will be no documentation and they will be left out,” advises Carlos Hernández, technical director of the race. In fact, «90% of the participants of the previous edition sent the projects the day before». Last year, nearly a hundred creators benefited from this initiative of the Regional Government’s Directorate-General for Youth, which assists young people in the production, exhibition and promotion of their works.
Once applications have been sent, a committee composed of six experts in the relevant category (including Music, Film and Visual Arts, Performing and Visual Arts and Fashion) will select the finalists whose works will be exhibited between September and October at the two locations being have been chosen this year. Abanilla and Ulea will be the showcase for these makers for two days. The selected works will be distributed in two days. Every municipality has an infrastructure where you can view the complete works or a ‘display case’ (part of it). «In Abanilla we will do the exhibitions of performing arts and music; and Ulea has a very interesting exhibition hall».
The EstrenArte festival has a traveling character to promote the beauty of the region. “El Valle del Ricote – emphasizes Hernandez – is an enclave that is part of the wealth of the Murcia region and there are also many young people there who want to be a part of it”.
For all those interested in participating, the director reminds that there are two ways to register. One is through the official website of the competition (estrenarte.es) and the other through the single window of all the municipalities of the Region, as well as any building of the regional government.
In recent weeks, the EstrenArte festival has given a lecture by the famous Basque director Juanma Bajo Ulloa, a cockfight in Algezares (Murcia) and is now preparing a masterclass with the actress Marta Larralde on how to cope with a casting and the exhibition by Salvador Riquelme. The event is free and will take place today at the Adolfo Suárez Cultural Center in Cehegín, from 7.30pm.
