The La Mar Chica workshops are organized by the Ministry of Culture of the City Council of Cartagena and have the participation of the UPCT, the Fishermen’s Association, the El Batel Auditorium, the Popular University, the Eszencia restaurant, IKEA and the Oxigenarte association .

With Juan Manuel Hermosilla, percussion teacher at La Mar Chica, we will be introduced to the ancestral Afro-Dominican sounds and the diversity of Caribbean music, working on some rhythms or styles together with songs from the folklore of the Dominican Republic, all with a touch of innovation but without losing tradition

Dominican gastronomy is the fusion of indigenous, Spanish and African influences. The reflection of the rich history, culture, traditions and identity of the country. We will get to know the Caribbean cultural heritage, this time through its gastronomy, learn to prepare simple recipes and taste some of the most representative dishes of the gastronomy of the Dominican Republic.

In the workshop La Mar de Letras Chica, the islands of the Caribbean Sea are the host country this time. Our workshop will be a dive into their games, their stories, their poetry and even their music.

Imagination, creativity and new technologies to design and personalize your own T-shirt with graphic design techniques, vinyl printing and cutting, automatic embroidery, laser-cut accessories and integrated electronics with LEDs.

From July 18 to 21. Hours: 11am to 12:30pm Place: FABLAB SEDIC-UPCT. C/ Sor Francisca Armendáriz 6. Old Club Santiago.

Participants will develop a three-dimensional experience of their own creation from images captured with 360º cameras and virtual reality programming. From some comics identifying female historical figures and their contributions to science and technology.

From July 18 to 21. Hours: 11am to 12:30pm Place: FABLAB SEDIC-UPCT.

Located at the foot of the historic center, the Cartagena Fishermen’s Association opens the way to the Mediterranean while offering the city the pleasure of its fresh fish and shellfish. From the hand of the senior patron, Bartolomé Navarro, we get closer and learn more about the origins, the daily life of fishermen and the fishing industry, their profession and culture.
