Belfast Primary Schools issues warning as children watch dangerous videos of Huggy Wuggy

Date:

The Belfast school warned parents after first graders viewed the videos, including character Heo Woo.

The dangerous videos are made available to children via YouTube and TikTok and feature a shaven-toothed character as part of a horror game.

The trend worries parents whose children have seen them imitate game clips in the schoolyard, which feature a fearsome creature singing “hug and kill” and asking viewers to “take their last breath.”

East Belfast Craig Primary School has warned parents about this trend and asked them to be careful about what children watch.

The school’s principal, David Hegarty, said in a post on the school’s Facebook page:

“The character can be easily seen on YouTube channels as a sharp-toothed teddy bear that shaves its teeth and sings scary songs about hugs and killing. In one of the videos, the bear asks the viewer to take one last breath.

“They are very deceptive characters, because hugs should be seen as a kind and loving thing, and because of their name they can penetrate chimneys and filters.

“I just wanted to tell the parents and be vigilant about what your kids are watching.”

The same post was also shared on Abbott Cross Elementary School Newtown’s Facebook page.
