“Style big concern” – Mattle forms coalition with the FPÖ in Tyrol. from

Date:

Four weeks before the state elections, the top candidate of the Tyrolean People’s Party, Anton Mattle, has decided not to cooperate with the Blue Party. “I have repeatedly emphasized that the political style is very important to me,” says the Tyrolean ÖVP boss in the “Krone” interview.

It will take almost a month before a new state parliament is elected in Tyrol, namely on September 25. There is much speculation about who will rule whom in Tyrol over the next five years. One variant now seems out of the running: In Monday night’s exclusive “Krone” interview, VP top candidate Anton Mattle made a commitment and categorically ruled out political cooperation with the FPÖ Tyrol after the election.

At the ÖVP’s state party conference in Alpbach, Mattle said several times that if the worst came to pass, he would talk to all parties and exclude no one. How did this very clear shift come about? Mattle is very clear about that: “It has a bit to do with reciprocity. I have repeatedly emphasized that political style is very important to me. It’s also about how we treat each other now. This polarization scares me because it doesn’t match my approach to political work.”

“Mattle is Platter’s political twin”
For weeks, the FPÖ Tyrol, especially its top candidate Markus Abwerzger, has chosen Mattle as the main target for verbal attacks. This now seems to have prompted a reconsideration at Mattle. Among other things, Abwerzger said when LH Günther Platter switched to Mattle: “The announced new governor Anton Mattle is the proverbial political twin brother of the outgoing governor and certainly not an announcement for a modern, future-proof and clean Tyrol, because he has been part of it for more than 20 years. out of the game.”

“Matt, Matter, Matte”
Abwerzger and his Spin-Doctors recently followed suit and turned the key. It read: “The new election campaign motto and the new party name of the ÖVP should now be Matt, Matter, Mattle, because he promises things he cannot deliver.”

Interestingly, the same Abwerzger was quoted by several media outlets a few days ago saying that a coalition with the ÖVP under Governor Anton Mattle “cannot be ruled out per se”. Mattle was probably a little ahead of him.
