Vorarlberg Governor Markus Wallner took part in the routine fall retreat of the ÖVP government team on Monday. It was his first meeting with the party leadership since he began his sick leave.
It had become very quiet around Markus Wallner in recent weeks. Due to health problems, he was known to have gone on sick leave on urgent medical advice at the end of June. During this time, he was not available nor did he interfere in day-to-day political affairs. Even his closest companions had only sporadic contact with him. Wallner himself did the only sensible thing and concentrated on restoring his health.
Thankfully, he is now on the road to recovery. Rumors of a possible resignation have long since ceased and it has been clear for a few weeks that he will return to the political scene. He took the first step in that direction on Monday. On his own initiative, he took part in the autumn retreat of the ÖVP government team in Bregenz. This was mainly about defining the main areas of work for the coming months. It is not yet clear when Wallner will return to work.
