Sausage stall election campaign – Van der Bellen and Fischer: Bratwurst, Bosna, Pils

Date:

A good week before the Hofburg elections next Sunday, it’s all about the sausage. Federal President Alexander Van der Bellen and his predecessor Heinz Fischer met Friday afternoon at a sausage stall in Vienna to campaign for the re-election of the head of state. Sausage and beer were enjoyed under lively media attention.

The presidents were apparently a little starved from the “Constitution Day” they had attended earlier. The organic bratwurst served first did not satisfy the hunger. A Bosna was added during a visit to the stand. A small beer – consumed from the bottle – served as an accompaniment.

“A clear picture of who can do it best”
Fischer, who had previously announced his support for Van der Bellen, once again made it clear to a large crowd of journalists why the Federal President should start a second term in office. Van der Bellen has done well in the interest of the country for the past six years. When he considers which of the candidates is the most suitable, he has “a clear idea of who can do it best”.

The pastor had brought no advice for the incumbent: “The Federal President certainly doesn’t need tips.”

You have known each other for a long time
That they had known each other for a while became clear when Van der Bellen reported on a first meeting at the University of Innsbruck under the leadership of former Minister of Science Hertha Firnberg. The official in the 1970s.

Victory in the first vote “would be nice”
With a view to the future, Van der Bellen hopes that he will get an absolute majority in the first vote on Sunday in a week: “That would be nice.” crisis again.
