After the event (9:00 AM), the new government will hold its first working meeting since JxCat decided to go into opposition. The next challenge is the approval of the budgets, although it is not yet clear whether it will have sufficient support.

The new seven ministers, from different political families (CDC, PSC, Podem and the ERC itself), will exercise their office today, Tuesday, in the Palau de la Generalitat, headed by Aragonès, at 09:00 am .
An hour later, the new government will hold its first working meeting since JxCat decided to go to the opposition, and Aragonès will appear at a press conference at 12:30 p.m. to report on the changes in his executive branch.
The new ministers are Carles Campuzano (former CDC) to social rights, Joaquim Nadal (ex of the PSC) to Research and Universities, Gemma Ubasart (former of we can) to Justice, Law and Memory, Manel Balcells to Health, Natàlia Mas to Economy and Finance, Meritxell Serret to Foreign Action and Juli Fernández to Territory.
Some changes that his former JxCat partners do not approve, who now deny the “democratic legitimacy” of their executive branch.
Approve the budgets, the government’s next challenge
The new government faces an uncertain near future ahead of budget approval. Despite JxCat’s opposition, the ERC is not currently considering seeking the support of the PSC to approve the next Catalan budgets.
The ERC’s deputy secretary-general, Marta Vilalta, has reaffirmed that they do not want socialists’ support to agree on budgets and has redoubled pressure on JxCat to support Catalan bills for 2023. As she has argued, Jxcat would have no hindrance to approve some bills that the hitherto Minister of Economy, Jaume Giró (JxCat) was preparing.
PSC spokeswoman Elia Tortolero called it “irresponsible” that the new government, now “weakened” by the departure of JxCat, rejects the outstretched hand of the socialists to approve the budgets, and challenged Aragonès to lay “with whom” to rule now.
