Ibiza U-Commission – Another advertisement against Blümel set

Date:

The prosecutor’s office has dropped another complaint against former Finance Minister Gernot Blümel (ÖVP). He had been accused of making false statements to the Ibiza Commission of Inquiry. As reported, investigations into abuse of office had already been discontinued.

Most recently, the prosecution in the Blümel case investigated an alleged false statement in the Ibiza Commission of Inquiry, allegedly contradicted by the then CFO of ÖBB-Holding Arnold Schiefer. The statement is said to have been made in June 2020, the ad was posted anonymously and was a successor to a previously posted ad. After the investigation, the Public Prosecution Service concluded that the subsequent complaint did not need to be investigated.

No investigation into late file delivery
The Economic and Corruption Prosecution Service (WKStA) has confirmed to the APA that no preparatory procedure will be conducted. Only last week it was announced that the investigations against the ex-Finance Minister had been halted on suspicion of abuse of office. Blümel, who has resigned from all positions, was accused of deliberately delaying the delivery of files to Ibiza’s Commission of Inquiry.
