ETA prisoner Jakes Esnal he has got off this Tuesday of the lanmezan prisonafter having spent 32 and a half years in prison, as reported by the Association of Relatives of ETA Prisoners Etxerat. Esnal, Etxerat emphasizes, will serve another year at home until he is released on parole.
As Etxerat has pointed out, Jakes Esnal, almost 72 years old, “should have been released from May 2020, if the Anti-Terror Prosecutor’s Office had not blocked the Court’s decision on the application of sanctions (TAPAT) favorable to his parole”. Etxerat thanked “the commitment of civil society, institutions and citizens of Ipar Euskal Herria”, who in his opinion “had a lot to do” in achieving Esnal’s freedom.
