Judge Bandrés has been in the judicial career since 1980 and has served on the Supreme Court since 2003, serving in the Third Chamber, the Contentious-Administrative Chamber. He holds a doctorate in law, was professor of constitutional law at the University of Barcelona and studied at various European faculties and academies in France, Italy and the Netherlands.

He took his first steps as a judge in the courts of Gernika, and has also been in Catalonia and Aragon, until he was appointed magistrate of the Controversial Chamber of the Territorial Court of Barcelona in 1985, precedent of the Catalan Supreme Court of Justice.

The CGPJ’s progressive sector proposal and announcement of this afternoon’s meeting come hours after the conservative sector, following a Wednesday evening meeting, declared it “deemed it essential” to resume negotiations with the progressive wing to reach an agreement. to be reached about the two candidates for the TC corresponding to the appointment of the governing body of the judges.

According to sources familiar with the meeting, the nine members who attended agreed that they would resume contacts in the coming days to identify suitable candidates and who are willing to go to the court of guarantees to decide on a shortlist. of possible candidates from the conservative sector.
