The researchers’ record is mixed. Many major trials ended in acquittals, numerous investigations were halted and some verdicts overturned. The last major success was two years ago. The two most famous cases from the recent past are those of the Vorarlberg ÖVP governor Markus Wallner and the former FPÖ leader Heinz-Christian Strache.
