At around 10:30 a.m., the Rauris fire brigade received an alarm. In the Heimalm in the Rauriser Hochalm-Bahnen ski area, there was a fire in the basement. The heating in the ski hut may have caught fire.
Four people suffered smoke inhalation. “The staff and an expert guest – he is a firefighter himself – reacted very quickly and prevented worse things”, says manager Anton Voithofer of the Red Cross.
High material damage
The fire department immediately took them to the scene of the fire, but had a highly unusual journey. It was not possible to drive the fire truck to the cabin. The Floriani took the gondola with their equipment.
“This is something unusual even for us,” says local fire chief Anton Ellmauer. But: “Thank God there is enough water in the ski area.” The material damage should be enormous.
