FPÖ Secretary General Michael Schnedlitz was extremely pleased with his party’s performance in Lower Austria’s state elections on Sunday. He ruled out cooperation with the ÖVP state leader Johanna Mikl-Leitner for the ORF, and he announced that she would not be elected state governor either.
Schnedlitz said that not only the liberals, but every Lower Austrian who believed in this trend reversal was the winner of this election day. Party leader Udo Landbauer succeeded in breaking through the absolute majority and the system of the ÖVP “from corruption to the whole price explosion”.
“Breaking Strike”
Central to this “liberation strike” – which took the FPÖ to second place in the country – was “that politics is made for the people and not against the people”.
On further cooperation in the state, Schnedlitz stressed that Landbauer had already ruled out the election of Mikl-Leitner as state governor before the election: “We liberals will not give her this majority”, because she had screwed up too much. “Cooperation with Mikl-Leitner is virtually impossible because the population does not want it,” says Schnedlitz.
FPÖ-NÖ top candidate Udo Landbauer also ruled out a collaboration with Mikl Leitner. The ÖVP governor himself said he will hold talks with the parties – including the FPÖ – at ORF in the coming week and would be happy to shake hands with them to work together.
