The list of Egin Senpererentzat (centre-right) has received 1,333 votes, the list of the abertzale Christophe Jaureguy (Hats Berri) 1,233 and the list of Dominique Idiart (Elgarrekin Senpere) 882. Elhorga will take command on Friday.
Euskaraz irakurri: Bernard Elhorga izango da Senpereko auzapez berria
Bernard Elhorga will the mayor by Senpere within the next three years. This is how the inhabitants of the city decided today in the second round of the municipal elections.
Like last Sunday, the list of the Elhorga group, Egin Senpererentzat (centre-right) is the most voted, with 1333 votes specifically (collected 1115 in the first round).
Yet the truth is that he has been fighting a close battle with the nationalists and members of the majority who have resigned since Christophe Jaureguy and the Hats Berri group narrowly finished second, down 100 votes, 1233.
For his part, Dominique Idiaert (Elgarrekin Senpererentzat) received the fewest votes, 882 to vote. Idiart, current mayor, will now work from the opposition.
Bernard Elhorga, 62 years old and born in Senpere, has worked for many years in the suburbs of Paris, in the postal service. Now that he has already retired, he faces a new challenge, that of the office of mayor. He will take over from Idiart on Friday. However, they have all stated that they will work for all citizens, together, and with the aim of calming the riots of recent months.
In October 2022, 10 Majority Councilors resigned and five were elected. In December, all members of the opposition also resigned and, with a third of the councilors left uncovered, they had to hold elections again.
