Only 35 hours – “part-time luxury” for the green parliamentary club

Date:

You should be an employee of the Greens: while the country is debating short-time work, people are going home for a long time.

Nurses who have to work overtime in hospitals, for example, can only look at these working hours with envy. While Austria is discussing a reduction in working hours, the Greens have long since introduced it – for the time being, of course, for themselves. The parliamentary club of the current governing party has had a comfortable 35-hour working week for ten years (!) now. . And that with full wage compensation. A “part-time luxury” that does not exist in other parliamentary offices. And very rarely for employees outside the house.

Administration exception
“The 35-hour working week in the green club applies to all employees, with the exception of management,” says a spokeswoman. Early closing time at the expense of the taxpayer, because the clubs are of course financed with public funds. The Greens do not see it that way: “There is no additional burden because the level of club financing is regulated by law and the clubs can use the available resources to manage freely and make their own decisions.”

And how much did the short week increase productivity? No idea. The Greens have “not scientifically evaluated”.
