The Tyrolean communities had to decide on Thursday about a variant of the Tiwag electricity price. A broadcast of the “Krone” among village chiefs shows: Resentment towards the state energy supplier is great – there is little or no pleasure in the current offer. Harmony? No!
“Tiwag is not acting on an equal footing here. She doesn’t have to think profit-oriented, but has to fulfill a supply contract,” VP LA Dominik Mainusch said irritably. With “stomachache” he had to take the 1 variant for the municipality and the 3 variant for the thermal baths. “Here I get the energy cost subsidy, with which I may be able to compensate for the high costs.”
“Where there is a will there is a way”
Klaus Gasteiger, SP-BM from Kaltenbach, is of the same opinion: “I know that Tiwag adheres to certain preconditions, but I also know that where there is a will, there is a way. It is incomprehensible what is happening in the background.” He had to choose option 1.
“The Tiwag belongs to all of us. It has hydroelectric power plants that allow it to generate cheap electricity. However, the purchased electricity will be charged. That’s unfair,” says VP Nassereither BM Herbert Kröll, “but since it doesn’t work without an electricity supplier, we’re taking option 2.”
“I expected more”
LA Benedikt Lentsch, SP-BM from Zams, is also not very enthusiastic: “I don’t see a rate reduction. I expected more. I’m closing option 1.” Just like Thomas Öfner, SP-BM from Zirl: “The state politicians should actually ensure that the population benefits from the fact that there is a state energy supplier that makes a profit.”
“Tiwag is putting us under pressure, that is not possible”
On the other hand, the so-called regional management leader for the Kitzbüheler Alpen region is acting extremely courageously. “About 20 municipalities in the districts of Kitzbühel and Kufstein will not accept Tiwag’s new terms,” says chairman Rudi Puecher, who is also BM von Brixlegg, “we remain in the current contract, which expires at the end of the year. . We will be in talks with Tiwag in the near future. Of course we very much hope that we find a solution, but Tiwag also has to move – because so far it has not made any effort.”
LA Andreas Gang, FP-BM von Kramsach, shows solidarity: “Here we have the choice between plague and cholera. Tiwag puts so much pressure on it that it’s unacceptable, so I’m not signing it.”
Many questions remain unanswered: what will happen to these municipalities if they cannot come to an agreement with Tiwag? The Greens demand that they make the calculations public. The government now wants to summon the Tiwag boss.
