Iñigo Urkullu has confirmed that “the delays are continuous”, in some cases up to two years.
The Lehendakari, Iñigo Urkullu, has demanded the transfer of the recognition of foreign university degrees to the Spanish government.
Iñigo Urkullu has claimed in a post on social networks that it is necessary to “provide an answer” to the problem of title validation. As he warned, “there are constant delays, in many cases up to two years”, which he says means that opportunities to integrate competent people into the labor market are lost.
If the processes are not accelerated, “we will all suffer,” he believes.
For all this, he asks the Spanish government that the Basque government has the capacity to validate titles.
Lehendakari’s message comes after it was announced yesterday that the Minister of Public Administration and Self-Government of the Basque government, Olatz Garamendihas sent a letter to the Minister of Territorial Policy, Isabel Rodríguez, in which she presents a proposal to bring about the transfer to Euskadi of the competence for the recognition and equivalence of foreign titles and studies in university education.
Garamendi framed his proposal in the need for professionals, especially in the health sector, who end up in the Basque Country and who “could strengthen public services”, but who “conceive the slowness of the state in the process of homologation and validation of their academic titles “.
As the Basque government reminded yesterday, this is a transfer included in the transfer schedule that was negotiated in April 2021 and concluded in October 2021.
