The Security Council member, Josu Erkoreka, has assured that there are reasons to suspect that yesterday’s protest against the “Ertzainas en lucha” movement in Vitoria-Gasteiz involved “conduct contrary to the legal system, or the whether it’s disciplinary action or citizen safety.”
The Ministry of Security has opened an information procedure for the concentration held last Thursday in Vitoria-Gasteiz by the movement ‘Ertzainas en lucha’, cutting off the circulation of the tram because of the “well-founded suspicion” that in said there was protest “act contrary to the legal systemSecurity Council member Josu Erkoreka announced.
Half a thousand ertzainas gathered this Thursday at the gates of the Basque Parliament, convened by the asyndian platform ‘Ertzainas in battle’at the request of one salary increase of 1100 euros and improvements in personnel and technical equipment. The agents paralyzed the tram in the capital of Álava.
Regarding the activity of this movement that originated within the Ertzaintza, the EH Bildu parliamentarian Julen Arzuaga has expressed his “concern” about the attitude of these ertzainas, whom he accused of interrupting the circulation of the tram and having “threatened ” with new mobilizations during the stages of the Tour de France which will take place in Euskadi at the beginning of July.
salary of the ertzainas
Currently, with this year’s salary increase, an agent or first agent earns an average of 2,500 euros net per month, according to the Basque Ministry of Security. Most of the agents are part of that base scale and there are between 6,000 and 8,000 ertzainas.
The base salary is 836 euros per month, which is marked from Madrid, but the salary is supplemented by multiple additions, seniority or professional career. For example, the extra hour is paid at 25 euros, which increases to 30 euros if the hour is at night or on a holiday. You must also add the allowance of 14 euros for appeals outside office hours and the travel allowance.
In the Ertzaintza there is no possibility of substitutions, the teammates have to do it, so there is a kind of bag to work over and close the gaps. An agent who works 8 hours extra paid, therefore earns more than 200 euros that day.
