Socialists and jeltzales signed the coalition pact this morning to run the consistory of 12 portfolios (Mayor and five for the PSE-EE, and another six for the PNV). Beatriz Artolazabal becomes the deputy mayor.
The new mayor of Vitoria-Gasteiz, Maider Etxebarria (PSE-EE), announced yesterday that the administrative agreement with the PNV would be “imminent”, and a day later we knew the details of the distribution of portfolios in the city Hall of the capital of Alava. Both formations have agreed on a government with twelve departments, with six councils per party. In addition to the office of mayor, the PSE-EE will take over the management of five municipalities: Finance, Economic Promotion and Employment, among others. The PNV will lead six other portfolios, including Social Policy and Security, while PNV municipal spokesperson Beatriz Artolazabal will be the deputy mayor.
He PSE-EE takes charge of the Mayor, Institutional Relations and Equality departments; Tax authorities; Human Resources; City model integrating Housing, Cleaning and Environment (former Urban Planning Department); Economic Promotion, Employment, Trade and Tourism; and Sport, Health and Development Cooperation; as well as the municipal corporations of Amvisa, Ensanche 21, the Centers for Environmental Studies (CEA) and Gilsa.
For his part, he GDP will lead the Social Policy departments; Security; Public Space and Neighborhoods (former Department of Mobility and Public Space), Culture and Education; Open Government (former Directorate Citizen Participation, Transparency and Social Centers); and Modernization Administration (former Digital Transformation department). It also manages Tuvisa, the José Uruñuela Conservatory of Dance and the Luis Aranburu School of Music.
During the press conference held at Vitoria-Gasteiz town hall on Tuesday to announce the details of the coalition government, Maider Etxebarria expressed its satisfaction with the agreement reached. “We have a responsibility to build a better, more modern, caring city and work with humility, and both PSE-EE and PNV are committed to this,” he added.
