After more than 100 days of black and blue in Lower Austria, Nikolaus Frings, head of the Lower Austrian “Krone”, draws a clear balance: “The government work is better than it is received.” Frings sees the reason for the distorted perception in the “outrageous election campaign”, which left behind only a few underhanded actions. The current trust values could also be described as outrageous. According to a study by the IFDD, only one female politician has a positive value…
“If you had bet money in December that there would be a black and blue coalition, you would be rich now, but you would have been thought crazy at the time.” In fact, the state government in Lower Austria is better than its reputation, says Frings. And often there are two criteria, he explains using the example of the company bonus: “In Tyrol, the black-green government was celebrated for this, with the black-blue government it is a scandal and perhaps even racist.”
Black and Blue as “Less Evil”
However, you do not collect personal advantages in Lower Austria: Udo Landbauer is currently at the bottom when it comes to reliability and Johanna Mikl-Leitner also has to accept losses.
Yet the lack of confidence does not seem to affect the parties as such. In a current Sunday question from the IFDD, both the ÖVP and FPÖ remain stable. Are the two the ‘least evil’ after all? Frings: “I think so.”
Hanni and her “normal thinkers”
With the failed attempt to get the political center into the political ÖVP boat with the term “normal thinkers”, Johanna Mikl-Leitner has now started a nationwide dispute. “You’re treading on thin ice there,” says Frings. Werner Kogler then trod on thin ice with his ‘pre-fascistoid’ saying.
Mikl-Leitner counters, describing the Greens as a “political fringe that is becoming increasingly extreme”. So far no one wants to apologize. Is this the new way of dealing with politics? “Apparently. It certainly won’t be the last blows.”
