Monika Hernando, dismissed from the position of Human Rights, Victims and Diversity Director of the Basque Government

The Government Gazette of the Basque Country published his resignation on Friday. Hernando will head the Directorate for Equality, Coexistence, Cooperation and Immigration at Bilbao City Council.

After ten years in office, the Human Rights, Victims and Diversity Director of the Basque Government, until now, has Monica Hernando, has resigned from his position, as published Friday in the Government Gazette of the Basque Country. From now on, he will be in charge of the Equality, Coexistence, Cooperation and Immigration Directorate of the Bilbao City Hall.

Since then, Hernando has held this responsibility within the regional executive 2013formerly within the organizational chart of the Lehendakaritza and since 2020 at the Ministry of Equality, Justice and Social Policy.

The current Director of Human Rights, Victims and Diversity has a degree in Law and before joining the Administration worked at Unesco Etxea, at Unicef, at the Mundubat Coordinator and at CEAR Euskadi.

The Department of Equality, Justice and Social Policy has not said who will fill the post after Hernando’s departure.
