“It is the expression of the most radical injustice”

The Lehendakari has expressed “deep” dismay over the attack on Al-Ahli Hospital. Moreover, he has shown his solidarity, “from committed humanism”, with the victims of the said act.

Lehendakari Iñigo Urkullu has denounced that “the attacks on the civilian population are the expression of the most radical injustice”, in clear reference to what happened in Tuesday’s Al-Ahli Hospital in the Gaza Strip.

The Lehendakari expressed their “deep” dismay over the attack on the hospital in a short message on social networks. Moreover, he has shown his solidarity, “from committed humanism”, with the victims of this act, which “deserves absolute and total condemnation”.

In the words of the Lehendakari, “we are witnessing the exploitation of the suffering of the defenseless population.” Urkullu has demanded a cessation of hostilities and opening of diplomatic channels.

Gaza’s Health Ministry has accused Israel of this action. The Israeli military, for its part, claims the explosion was caused by a failed Islamic Jihad rocket, suggesting Israeli authorities are “making up lies to avoid responsibility.”

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) has reiterated its position that the event was caused by the impact of a projectile fired by Islamic Jihad and attached images of the hospital parking lot and craters from previous Israeli attacks. “There are no visible signs of craters or significant damage to the buildings,” they emphasized in a video published through their official account on the social network X, formerly known as Twitter.

However, Islamic Jihad recalled that the hospital had received explicit warnings from the Israeli army to evacuate it so that “the enemy’s contradictory narratives expose his lies,” it noted.
