U-Committee Politics – Dornauer about comrades: “Play Kickl at cards”

Date:

The policy of his party friends in the federal government towards U-committees apparently arouses negative feelings among the Tyrolean SPÖ state party leader Georg Dornauer. His colleagues on Löwelstrasse would “once again” play into the hands of FPÖ leader Herbert Kickl.

“Instead of just working on the ÖVP in pointless U-committees, the SPÖ should show perspectives for the people,” said Dornauer in the “Tiroler Tageszeitung” (Monday edition).

The federal party must “focus on showing Austrians a political alternative.” With its U-committee policy, however, he saw that the federal SPÖ was “again playing into the hands of Kickl (federal party chairman of the FPÖ, note) and his troops. ”

Controversial U-committees
Two new investigative committees will occupy Parliament in the coming year. The SPÖ and FPÖ want to shed light in a committee on the financing of Covid financing agency COFAG and focus mainly on entrepreneur Siegfried Wolf and investor René Benko. The ÖVP in turn set up its own “Red-Blue Commission of Inquiry into the Abuse of Power”.

Dornauer reigns in Tyrol as a junior partner at the ÖVP. At the federal level, he has never made a secret in the past of the fact that he also favors or wants a coalition with the People’s Party after the upcoming elections for the National Council.
